Ferrari held an exclusive event at the El Badi Palace in Morocco, showcasing the Ferrari Roma Spider.
The Ferrari Roma Spider is a convertible model of the 2+2 grand tourer ‘ Roma ‘ announced in November 2019. The Spyder model is a modern reinterpretation of the lifestyle of Italians in the 1950s and 1960s. In addition, it is the first front-engine soft-top convertible to be unveiled since the Ferrari 365 GTS4, which was released in 1969.
Wide front part
The wide front part with a restrained feeling is elegant as if it were carved from a single piece of metal, and it creates a shark nose effect in conjunction with the overhang. The front part, which features two horizontally-shaped LED headlamps, shows Ferrari’s unique personality. In addition, the hole in the radiator grill for engine cooling was minimized and finished in the same color as the body color. These various design elements further enhanced the sense of unity with the bumper and created a sleeker appearance.
The long bonnet of Rome, characterized by a long nose and short deck style that is long in front and short in the back, further emphasizes the relaxed silhouette on the side and creates a sleek and dynamic image.
Most Notable Feature
The most notable feature is the soft top. Thanks to this, I was able to reduce the overall weight, and the height of the top when folded is only 22 cm. As such, it occupies a small area in the trunk space, guaranteeing the most generous trunk space in its class. In addition, it creates a sophisticated atmosphere by using a new material that is different from the fabric found in most convertible vehicles. The soft top can be opened and closed in 13.5 seconds at a maximum speed of 60 km/h.
Interior design
The interior, designed to surround the driver and passengers, feels like a completely separate space between the driver’s seat and the front passenger’s seat. It is a further evolution of the dual cockpit concept that marked a milestone in Ferrari’s history in the 1970s. It has a vertically long 8.4- inch infotainment system and supports wireless Android Auto and CarPlay. The front passenger seat also has a slim 8.8- inch display that allows settings such as temperature control and navigation, so the passenger in the passenger seat feels like a ‘ co-driver ‘.
Like the existing coupe model, the 3,855cc V8 twin-turbo engine produces 161 horsepower per liter with a maximum output of 620 horsepower. In addition, the torque band is wide enough to use 80% of the torque even at a low rpm of 1,900 rpm. With an 8- speed dual-clutch transmission applied, acceleration from stop to 100 km/h is 3.4 seconds, and acceleration from stop to 200 km/h is only 9.7 seconds. The top speed exceeds 320 km/h.
