Good News For fans, “Wednesday” Officially renewed for season 2

The creators of the show promise to reveal more secrets about the Nevermore Academy.

Netflix has renewed Tim Burton’s Wednesday series based on the Addams Family universe for a second season. Jenna Ortega will return to play Wednesday Addams.

After Stranger Things season 4, Wednesday is the second most-watched Netflix show. The series was also warmly received by both viewers and critics. Moreover, “Wednesday” was dismantled into memes, and the Wednesday dance, which was choreographed by Jenna Ortega herself, quickly went viral on TikTok. However, many fans used Lady Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” in their dance videos rather than The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck,” which was featured on the show. Lady Gaga, by the way, showed her version of the dance.

The TV series “Wednesday” was very successful. Not surprisingly, Netflix has approved a sequel. In fact, the authors started preliminary work on the new series as early as 2022. And Netflix accompanied the announcement of Wednesday’s second season with a video dedicated to the show’s fans. The video featured an accelerated version of the very same song, “Bloody Mary,”  to which fans perform the Wednesday dance.

Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have already commented on the series’ renewal for season 2 in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. The authors promised to reveal more secrets about the Nevermore rogue academy in the new series:

“So happy to be the creators of a show that has resonated with so many people around the world. We’re thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey in Season 2. We look forward to diving head first into the new season and exploring the spooky world of Nevermore.”

In Wednesday, season 1, Wednesday solved the case of a series of murders committed by a monster in the territory of Nevermore. Also, the girl learned a lot of important things about the past of the academy. However, the season 1 finale made it clear that this is not the end of the story. In our Wednesday Season 1 feature, we looked at what could happen in Season 2.
