Rumor has leaked online that Warner Bros. plans to restart the Harry Potter franchise based on the books of JK Rowling. In the new Harry Potter films, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley may be played by other actors.

In 2011, the film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II was released – it completed the story. In 2016, the Fantastic Beasts spin-off series was launched, which did not become commercially successful. In April 2022, it was even reported that Warner Bros. may close the Fantastic Beasts franchise after the third installment – although the studio had five films in the plans.

In November, it became known that two films were going to be made based on the 2016 play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, about grown-up Harry, Hermione, and Ron, as well as their children. However, it is unlikely that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint will star in the films – the actors do not want to return to the Wizarding World.

And now Screen Geek is reporting that Warner Bros. wants to go back to original stories. It seems that the adaptation of the Cursed Child is not particularly interesting in the studio.

New adaptations of JK Rowling’s Warner Bros. going to rethink the plot and characters. Harry Potter has become a cult classic that fans are still revisiting today. However, studio bosses want to take a fresh look at the stories from Rowling’s works and remake films for a new generation of viewers.

There is already a theory that the stories will be told from the point of view of another character. Or the film adaptation this time will be made in the format of a cartoon or a series.

The new Harry Potters are said to be in the early stages of development, so plans for Warner Bros. may change. The studio intends to restart the franchise in the next 3-5 years.
